In center of Beijing City is Square is Tiananmen Tower. Initially built in 1417 during the Ming Dynasty (1368 A.D.- 1644 A.D.), the Square was the front door of the Forbidden City. The most important use of it in the past was to declare in a big ceremony to the common people who became the emperor and who became the empress. Until 1911 when the last feudal kingdom was over, no one could enter the Tower except for the royal family and aristocrats. |

This building is named after Brendan Bracken, former chairman of the Financial Times, who was also appointed as the Minister of Information in Winston's war time cabinet, which was published here until the 1980s. The building was among the first post-war buildings in the City of London to be listed and its redevelopment retained the entire outside façade, including the elegant astronomical clock approximately 1 metre in diameter bearing at its centre a face of Winston Churchill, a personal friend of Brendan Bracken.
This work by Philip Bentham is in gilt metal and enamel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brendan_Bracken |

This was the first large gigapixel panorama I have taken using the Merlin/Papywizard combination. There are a number of issues in the pictures, partially due to the fact that the Merlin and the camera was not leveled 100% correctly.
Anyway, it was mainly still part of an exercise to test the setup, and as such it is not too bad. The camera used for this was the EOS 500D with an 18-270 SuperZoom lens. |
