For me, this was very exciting to be out on the field in order to take some test panoramas of Cameron Field. I initially considered naming the final product Field of Dreams, but insted will name it Field of Reality because for the Rice Baseball Team, this is not a dream... it is a dream come true and for those on the team, it is truly a Field of Reality.

This panorama was taken between the Tennis Stadium and the Media Center, across the street from the Rice University Police Station. At various times of the school year, this intersection can be very, very busy because of sports events, music events and continuing education events all happening at once. But when I took the panorama, it looked pretty peaceful to me. The panorama was taken hand-held with a Nikon D70 and a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens and was stitched with the GigaPan Stitcher software. Additional information can be seen via the Stitcher Notes link. Although this panorama is not a 360, a trip to Google Earth via the link can be rewarding. |

Shutter speeds were typically 1/5000 sec or slightly faster. A good time was had by all. |

Displayed is a 360-degree panorama of a very special place in the confines of Reckling Park, home of the Rice Owls Baseball Team.
Not bad for a $100 lens, the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens. The GigaPan taken by Flavivirus, http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=27965, motivated me to use the same lens as what he used; however, his camera, a D300 is light years past my D70, but all-in-all, mine looks good... all the lettering is sharp. |
