view of old-growth redwood forest canopy from 330 feet into the sun through mist, Humboldt Redwoods State Park

By:Steve Sillett (Sillett) on December 24, 2007

From atop the largest (not tallest) tree in Humboldt Redwoods State Park, this view of the old-growth redwood forest canopy is facing the sun, which is behind some clouds and mist. The left of the panorama shows the silvery glinting of water droplets on every leaf. By the time the robot spun to the right, the sun had burned through the mist. One redwood visible in this panorama has a solar-powered sensor array, which is collecting data on treetop microclimates and whole-tree water use. Can you find it?
